Sawdust? Pfah!

We were in a Pub in Moss Street in Paisley (HH, fill in name of pub here) a couple of weeks ago that still had a marble urination trough from the days when pubs had no lavatory and you just let go against the bar.

Wummin didn't drink in those days.

The Turf Bar in Irvine had a similar trough around the bar. I was told it was for micturation, but I never really quite believed it, but it looks like it was true.

Lang's Bar in Moss St. It also has a second toilet with a urinal and no wash hand basin.

The Grumpy Goat

Yeah, a pity about the demise of the Stirling Castle. Reflects the changing face of Yorkhill/Finnieston.

When I lived round there in the '90s the only 'trendy' bar was Firebird and then 54 Below.

You could also include The Park Bar with The Grove as an unchanged pub.

Hoping to get round to writing a wee review of The Grumpy Goat and Alfie's if I can get my finger out.

Apologies as I can't find out how to copy images from Google Street View.

Would you remember what the name of the pubs now called Lebowski's and The Brass Monkey that sit on the opposite side of teh junction of Argyll Street and Kent Road in the late nineties? I used to drink in the Lebowski's place with my MOD colleagues from the building in the Skypark area. One of the few places I have ever seen that had sawdust on the floor.

Thanks

Brass Monkey was, amongst other names, The Two Ways. More at http://www.oldglasgowpubs.co.uk/twoways.html

Lebowski was The Sandyford.http://www.oldglasgowpubs.co.uk/sandyford.html

So the Two Ways has gone all trendy :(
Took the missus in there once and she couldn't understand a word the locals were saying :)
RIP Nesbitt.
