Concrete Structure in Pollok

Postby Beavis64 » Sat Jun 13, 2009 9:05 pm

I was cycling in the woods next to Lyoncross Rd and Dormanside Rd in Pollok and came across a massive concrete structure which looks like a concrete multi-storey car park...
Anyone know the history of this structure or know why it is in the middle of the woods?

C'mon guys! We can't just leave it at "a water tower".

It's a Cold War communications building with secret underground bunker, missile silo and a railway tunnel leading to Dial House.
It's also built on top of a medieval graveyard and is reputed to be haunted by the ghost of Wee Willie Winkie!

:D

It`s a redundant water tower, last time I was there it was open. pics here http://www.flickr.com/photos/53271524@N ... 828085072/

HG also covered it in the Towers,Caves and Castle walk viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5319

I've got an excellent live version of a tune of that name by A Certain Ratio.

Took me twenty years before I found out what the word meant, mind. And then I rather wished I hadn't.

Well, don't know about Robin Hood, but there are Merry Men involved at the least.

Same label, I'll grant you. :)

I used to have that sandpaper album (actually, not quite sure why I still don't, but anyway...) - it played havoc with the surrounding records.
