Fabulous tour of the basement, thanks. I especially liked the lightning conductor testing bit.
The tale is that there were cells in the basement, for locking up offending seamen - anything grab you as looking like former cells?

Funny you should mention the cells as this was my original intent in gaining access. Alas I didn’t come across any evidence to support this. There was an excellent collection of historic OS maps though (pic 19) that’s given me a couple of leads for new projects.
