Howdy,

I'm looking for info about this area, but all I've discovered is: that it no longer exists, that Lime Street was renamed Oregon Street at some point, and that Oregon Street was demolished sometime in the 60s.

My grandfather was born in Lime Street and his birth was registered in Hutchesontown. So somewhere about there?

One other thing I've unearthed is that Oregon Street was slum housing. So the hidden fortune must be on my mother's side ::):

Regards

Jim

Lime Street/Oregon Street is now under the towerblocks in Hutchesontown, opposite the entrance to the Southern Necropolis:

In this picture of Oatlands Square from 1959, a wee glimpse of Lime Street running off to the left of the photo:

Howdy,

Thanks for that folks - service above and beyond the call of duty.

I'm actually surprised because I thought my father's side of the family were all Shaws born and bred. In fact, they used to look down at my mother's side because they came from... the Gorbals! What makes it even more ironic is that my maternal grandmother lived in Hutchesontown Court, right across from the high flats.

So thanks again, and now I'm off to play with the Valuation Roll.

Regards

Jim

Shaws folk were better than Gorbals folk  had their own burgh and only became part of Glasgow in 1912.

And they had bathtubs

Or so I'm led to believe.
