I tried to post this up last night , but I messed up and lost it after embedding loads of photos :|
Ah well , here goes again....

I got a chance to visit a couple of Victorian terraced mansions in the West End. They are being converted from student accommodation into residential flats. A lot of original features still in place or uncovered by the works. Must have been a very swanky address back in the day.

Very nice to see inside Lancaster Terrace. According to the Glasgow volume of the Buildings of Scotland series, this was built around 1875-76 as "an incomplete composition of three villas linked together to form a terrace". The book has more to say about Westbourne House, at the corner with Clevedeon Road, but not about the remarkable interiors you have illustrated. Thanks.

Not like you to slip HH, but it's the opposite. The soap dodgers have been given the boot.

That fireplace is identical to one which was stolen from the mysterious Acre House!

What's the chances of that?

Those pictures are absolutely enchanting. Could look at them all day.

In fact, since I am now in work, I think I will.

Thanks.

I missed this the first time around.

What a stunning residence and how anyone thought that allowing students free reign inside was a good idea is beyond me. Looks like the place got away pretty much unscathed though - the glass is absolutely breathtaking.

Lovely set.

Same as what he said.

There was clearly some serious wealth going on there. Good to see nice things survive for a change.

What is that on the door, Eddy? Meaning - stained glass, painted glass, or something stuck on to the panes?

Dimairt - thanks for sharing - looks like a fascinating building. I take it you are not able to go beyond "west end" for location ( presuming "shelter" makes it sensitive )?
