McPhun writes of a canoe found in London Street, which was the portion of what is now London Road immediately EAST of the cross. The fancy map and neon whatsit both relate to Tontine Lane, off Trongate, which is immediately WEST of the cross. So the dates don't conflict - they refer two two different finds.

PS toomse, would your colleague be selling his 1833 McPhun?

Back to the lights I think the canoe lights went up for the first Radience light festival

cheers Ronnie
excellent information unearthed

I initially thought the dates were conflicting because a canoe would be such a rare find

could never have imagined 16 of them !

discovered this while investigating the unlikelihood of a tunnel network below the Old College Bar extending to GRI
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=135&start=165

It’s too faint to make out other than 16th Century *********** found
Wonder if it relates to yet another canoe

just looking at this again - think I must have canoes on the brain

looks more like coins although it seems strange to record this unless it was quite a large find

The labourers who made the discovery lost no time in disposing of the treasure that luck had sent them.

passed here yesterday

must say I’m surprised a glass display in a city lane just off Trongate that’s been there for some time has not been trashed yet

came across this glass business around the corner in New Wynd
