Laurel and Hardy club the Sons of the Desert are staging monthly film showings of various classic L&H films at the Britannia Panopticon - the site of Stan Laurel's stage debut. Film showings are held on the first Wednesday of every month, free admission, doors open 6.30pm. See here for more information:

They need a screen and every screen on a Midweek night is showing football.

If they have their own screen and projector it's just a room they need. maybe a club early in the evening. Downstairs at Blackfriars? The Brunswick Hotel.

I always liked downstairs at Blackfriars. It must be a strong possibility.

This place was mentioned on 'Restoration Village' the other week when they covered Scotland. Apparently the work for restoration will start fairly soon.

Laurel and Hardy club's additional venue in Glasgow

Postby Willie » Sat Sep 16, 2006 6:41 pm

The Call of the Cuckoos Tent of the Sons of the Desert has a new, additional, monthly meeting place in Glasgow, for showing Laurel and Hardy films. Its first meeting at the Cathedral House Hotel, 28-32 Cathedral Square, will be on Tuesday, 10th October. Doors open at 7.00pm and the films start at 7.30pm. Because the hotel is believed to be haunted, a ghostly theme will prevail in the films selected on the first night. The films The Live Ghost and Habeas Corpus are among the obvious choices. All are welcome and admission is free.
