Glasgow lookalike 50s - Short Movie

Postby Mantasmagorical » Mon May 26, 2008 10:54 pm

Hi Everyone!

I'm a young director and working on a 1950s short movie for a film festival.
The story is based in Glasgow.
I'm looking for places that (still) look 50s.

I have taken few pictures today to show you the sort of places i am looking for: http://mantasmagorical.com/50s.htm

However, i have difficulties to find street with houses and shops that look 50s.

Get in Touch!

Yeah, that's the trouble with it being 2008. I think the last time I saw a street with the shops fully decked out vintage style for a film was Saint Andrews Street. But that was a good few years ago.
There are some individual shops which could pass, but you won't find a whole street, or anything suitable for even a short tracking shot, unless you have the budget to close one off for filming, get permission to use all the properties, and pay a set decorator to make them look the part.

The Glasgow Transport museum has a 'street scene' that at a push could be from that era

Hi, I own a 50's car and have friends who are into fifties fashion. Just off of Queens Drive near Queens Park is a small row of pensioner houses built in 1951. Bar the modern cars the place is a time warp, If you want any further info drop me a PM and I will give you my number for more info, Johnny
