Well the Glasgow one is locked and I don't see Ward fancying us all thumping into his post - but yeah sure, we'll work something out! I'm sure Apollo and I could give a few of you a wee tour. Depending how many folk want to come, we could perhaps split it and I could take a few people and Apollo a few to different posts - both for safety reasons plus the more people the more noticeable you are!

Whoops, yes, forgot about this one (thread that is).

Ok on the tour, and echo purplugrum's comments, although I suspect HG folks should be covert-savvy anyway :D

Let's see where the interested parties are located and we can work out where the nearest accessible posts are.

I think Creetown, Carradale, Machrihannish and Stoer would be the easiest (please ignore this line folks, its an in-house joke twixt me and purplegrum).

:) Yeah I think Creetown would be a fab one to show them! :P

Yeah, PM myself or Apollo if you are interested and we'll try work something out regarding visiting posts.

Is there one just outside airdrie near luggiebank ?,I swore i drove by one right next to the road. I was on my bike so I went past it quickly. I had no time to turn around and see

There used to be one at Airdrie about 200yds east of Airdreehill Road, but it was demolished after the posts were stood down in September 91. I'm not sure where the closest one to Airdrie would be now without looking at my map which is in the other car.

There is one in Airdrie... I posted the location a while back (try a search if you're interested).

I checked back for your link Crusty, thanks, (missed it as it was from the days I was lurking) and it is (of course) in the right area for the demolished post.

Do you have, or could you get a more precise location by any chance? I know the note on your original post is good, but we are looking for something we now know to be under turf, so any extra pointers at all would help.

I covered the area at the top of the hill in detail, and noted an abandoned, fenced compound adjacent to a cellphone installation, but satellite aerials? Am I in the right place? It was a short way from a demolished sandstone house and a quarry just past it.

Crummy, embarrasingly bad, over the shoulder photo of the abandoned compound follows, is this the location?:

puplegrum, how do you fancy some turf cutting and rolling some weekend or evening  :?:
