Well ouside the area but there was also Kennedy's at Fintry Bay on Cumbrae. I think they also owned the Fintry Bay Cafe when it was the green hut opposite the current building.

My Dad was the manager at Barries for a time. They had a factory in Dundee as well as the one in Glasgow and produced ice lollies which I think were called "frosty fingers"?
These were similar to "ice poles" but to my mind they'd more flavour. The cola flavour was my favourite.

Yes they were called Frosty Fingers , i sold thousands of ice poles to the kids when my i had the shop.

I had forgotten they had the Dundee Factory, i met mr Barrie a few times as he did make an effort to meet his customers on occasion along with the travelers when they made a call to promote any new items they produced.

I loved Barries Orange Crush, a special Zing to it ... at new year we did a roaring trade with barries fruit wines for the kids, Dandelion and Burdock was one of them, kids (neds) nowadays go for the real stuff like Buckfast and other cheap stuff.

I'm sure that there's an old Barries crate that lurks within a display at the Peoples Palace.
I think I've got a photo of it somewhere!

Anyone remember a brand called Jusoda? It came in smaller bottles, perhaps a pint or a half-litre. sold for 9d when 'normal' bottle was 1/3d

It still comes in catering sized concentrates .. I'm sure I've seen it in Costco or Makro.

Anybody remember Pola Cola - early to mid-70s?

Seem to recall the label carried a depiction of a polar bear shagging a cola bottle while exclaiming "Sheer delight!".

Aye i remember selling this brand for a while, had several different flavors too, there was also Fergora Cola and a range of flavors from this company, dont know if the both brands were produced in Glasgow. most of these smaller firms were took over by AG Barrs and bigger drinks companies as time went by.

Botla Skoosh was a term i often heard youngsters asking for.

i remember the alpine van, if my memory serves me right they produced a mingin fizzy peach ginger for Charles and Di's wedding! it was limited edition n tasted like cat piss (well what id imagine it to taste like )

was also given a blue nighty a few years back with snow flakes on it . . .suddenly popped into my head that i looked like a can of Fresca wearing it

Struthers made the Krystal Klear range and the cola was called Koala Kola
