i got loads of hassle from a wifey one day taking photos of the over head track on the southside at the gorbals as "they're private property" she nearly had the camera out of my hands!

i think she thought i was taking pictures of the garage in the arches underneath, but even then....

Just FYI you are allowed to take pictures of anything visible from "The Queen's Highway" ie even into gardens, houses, buildings or other private property. Obviously you're not allowed into private property to take pics unless you have permission, but as long as you are outwith private property anything is fair game.

the only hassle i've ever had when taking photos, apart from the occassional funny look, is when i tried photographing the 'no photography' sign. at Stanstead customs while queueing for the x-ray machine bit... the customs officer removed and destroyed the film.

i'd have gotten away with it too, if i had thought to switch off the flash first

actually, just remembered i also got the 'private property' bollox when taking a photo of a sign in the Fopp on Union Street, from a glorified shelf-stacker

Must have mistaken you for paparazzi

If you ever get this hassle, just remind them of my earlier post. They have no authority over you at all when you are not in their property and on the Queen's Highway, as any news camera will tell you. Doesn't stop them trying to have a go at you on occasions mind!

Legally they cant confiscate your camera for taking pics in private property (cinema, concert hall etc)

Of course, legally bouncers cant give you a doing either, but these things have a habit of happening nonetheless 8O

has anyone got photos of the old Partick Station (the one visible from the current platforms)? I've seen some old photos, but was wondering if anyone has ever gained access (or been stuck on the train at that point) to take photos.

Cheers,

Tim.

Timchilli: The Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire Railway used to run
underneath Hyndland station, there is a tunnel under the platform.
If travelling westbound on the train, you might notice it out
the left hand side window.

Partickhill station. Remember getting the train there, showing
my age now, there might be some photos on the site here.

Re. the old Partick station. Remember the entrance was next to Woolworths on Dumbarton Rd. My pal, the railwayman lived in the Partick Station Bothy for 2 years when his wife threw him out for fillandering in the 1960's. He told me when the workers came in to start their shifts, they would be faced with his underpants and socks hanging up on string drying.
He seemed to like it though. He had to be in by 10pm before the station gates were locked.

Yes, I noticed the old entrace the other day. It's rather narrow for such a busy interchange station.

I realise that "access-chat" is not permitted on this forum, but is the entire site inaccessible? I've walked around the area, including Peel Street, but never seem to find anything. Some neds have obviously gained access, since there's lots of graffiti ruining the site.

I've passed the old Partick Station just about every day since 1991, and have yet to see any current photos of the platform/buildings.

Cheers,

Tim.

The only pic so far I've found is from 1912.

I'll have a look on my way home from work. Is the tunnel visible before you arrive at, or just after leaving Hyndland en route to Jordanhill/Anniesland?

Cheers,

Tim.

Timchilli: Sorry never got a chance to reply earlier, had
to do some "work" in the work :(

You can see it from the train window when the train is
sitting at the station, just depending on what carriage
you get on. Try in the middle of the train or better :)

I used to think it was a bridge. To see it better you
will have to view it from the vacant ground side, it's
opposite the westbound platform.

I just got home and saw the tunnel. I also used to think it was a bridge.
Where does this tunnel emerge?

Cheers,

Tim.
