I was plannin a wee sneak down sometime soon...

So does this mean that this route down cannot be accessed anymore, or is it open to "constructive interpretation...?"

Don't know if this photo adds much to the preceedings, it shows the junction underground at Kelvinhaugh, during the Argyle Line rebuilding, in 1977 :)

Cheers.
It's a wee bit difficult (for me anyway) to place the exact location of this photo, so I wasn't sure if it would be useful.

Hi GKen

By my reckoning and with the help of livelocal the photograph was taken from Pointhouse road just to the west to the junction with Finnieston Street, looking west over the construction site of what is now Exhibition Centre Station. The track to Partick now veers left to run up the side of the large old retaining wall that can be seen in the background, this originally was not a main route but a short branch off the NBR line giving access to the docks. What was the original double track formation of the Caley line went under the roadbridge in the middle foreground, this is now the single track from Partick.

Hope this helps

How the area looked in the early 1960's proir to newer Finnieston/ Exhibition Centre station being built. Today the Clydeside Expressway flyover covers this area.

Great arial photographs, this helps piece together the changes to the area, I was trying to place the exact position of everything in the photograph posted by GlasgowKen (reposted below)

Image

Digging out the pld maps and viewing GoogleEarth I realised that Pointhouse road has been substantially realigned during the works to reopen the Argyll line, GKs photograph actually shows the old alignment of Pointhouse Road being dismantled. The annotated view below shos the old alignment in Red, with the old station building in blue

The old Finnieston Station building looked like this
