Old Partick Central

First off hello to all, and congratulations on a great site.
Finally registered. Ye Ha
Does anyone know anything about the old Partick Central Station. I think the main building was used as an auctioners at some point. (judging by the sign)
I know of the Tunnel & the Iron bridge that can be accessed by the Kelvin Hall car park, but are there more tunnels if you go off in the other direction? (Towards the expressway).
I used to live just around the corner (only moved recently) from the old station. What do you all make of the plans to build a Safeway on the site?
Do you think that they would tear the building down? Is it listed?
Someone said to me that at one point in time, they were planning to open a walkway from the Kelvin Hall down to the old platforms, and maybe have a tea room and visitors centre in the old building. Don't know if that was true. But it looks like it won't be hapening now.

Yes. There was a short tunnel which carried the line under the existing line
to the immediate east of Partick Station. This was down in a brick cutting,
which is still clearly visible. The tunnel entrance itself? I dont know if it
even exists anymore, as the area has had earth piled in to it. It's possible
that they obliterated the tunnel when they built the Clydeside Expressway.
I've read before that a single line remained in situ until the late 1970's, so
it's possible the tunnel is still there. It's very difficult to get access to the south
portal - it's behind some scrapyards and stuff.

After passing under the existing line, the line climbed towards Partick West
Station, where it branced in two - north towards Crow Road, and west up the
bank of the Clyde. This section is still almost entirely in place as a cycle path.

I dont think it's listed, and it wouldn't surprise me to see it torn down.

it's a while since i was down here - is this looking towards the scrapyard, looking from the scrapyard, or a section of tunnel on the other side of that mound of junk in the cutting?

They sent a JCB up the tunnel while they were giving the site a general clean up several months ago.
