If you go under the walkway under the bridge in the photo here following the route of the canal, you can see grooves worn into the stonework by years of ropes rubbing against it as horses pulled the barges under the bridge and round the corner, and the remnant of the actual towpath.

Thanks for that - my mum had read a book by someone who grew up in Maryhill and mentioned the Blythswood Cinema a few times and I'd tried to find pictures of it for her with no success. :)

It's 'Night Song of the Last Tram' by Robert Douglas. There's a photo of the Blythswood in the book.

I was going to add the whitewashed wall is also part of the Erecting Shop. Note the bricked up windows, which was part of the eastern wall, and later merged into the adjoining construction.
