That's a really great one - the adverts are always interesting!

Schiehallion - the Cathkin Park one is brilliant. Well done!

Where did it all go James? One of the most long-awaited yet depressing past presents so far.

Cheers

Actually, I dont understand why they pulled those tenements. Further west they
extended QMD up onto Maryhill Road, but that doesn't explain why these ones
bit the dust. :?

In light of recent demolitions, I would ask; is an excuse needed? Certainly not now, and definitely not then.

:? :(

very good James, I had that location as a possible for that photo, but wasn't sure how it looked pre demolition.

That was my first reaction too, but they had long gone before I came to the neighbourhood, and I guess it's easy for us, from this distance in time, to forget just how bad some of Glasgow's tenemental housing was. Somebody wrote in a thread a wee while ago (was it Vlad?) in relation to Townhead, that many of the residents there had been lobbyiong for years to have their tenements pulled down. You can argue about what went in their place, but I suspect (indeed I'm sure I've heard tell from reliable sources) that many of the tenements in Maryhill Road were particularly grim and poor quality.

I remember the old goods station well, when was it demolished ?
Are there any plans for the wall along Duke Street ? It's in an appauling condition, i'm surprised there aren't barriers up.
