Does anybody have pictures of the areas of Glasgow Caledonian Uni and the UGC Cinema before they were built?

I don't think its possible to get a picture of something before it exists...

A picture of the area before the building was built, however.....

That's what I meant - pictures of the areas that these buildings were subsequently built on!

There's a photo of Green's Playhouse - which is where the UGC was built - here:

You can just see the roof of the Pavilion in the bottom right corner of the photo.

James73: Many thanks especially for the old Bridge of Weir station photos - thats where I grew up & have very vague memories of getting the train up to Glasgow and along to Kilmacolm. I was quite shocked to see the stationn building had finally been demolished when I was last there...

My pleasure - just found this back end view of the auditorium (as the Apollo) on the Virtual Mitchell site as well:

It wasn't the worlds most attractive building!

Nice pics. I don't remember the Apollo at all. It was always just a gap site as far as I could remember.

When was the actual building knocked down? Growing up in Lanarkshire I didn't really start exploring Glasgow until the early 90's when I started dogging school!
