Thanks Fossy. The square looks beautiful in the old photograph.

What was that small rotunda style building opposite Trueform? It must be roughly around the entrance of the former Arnott's building. I have seen this photograph many times, but never spotted that building until now.

It was the Tourist Information Centre, built, I think, for the 1938 Exhibition.

I've got a few past presents that I want to do, however the pics are from books. Anyone got any suggestions how I can find these pics easily online without having to search through VM? Most of them seem to be postcard pics. They are too small to scan in. Ta.

That first Coatbridge photo was in a book, and only about an inch, and a half wide.
You'd be surprised how much detail you get from a wee photie if you crank up the scanning pixels to a bit higher setting :-)

Well maybe if you upload the small scans from the books the rest of us could put in the effort of searching the VM by location/keyword for you. Then again...

Thank you for your help..not. The book says that some of the photographs haven't been published before, so I was expecting some of them not to be on VM. Funny how moderators are allowed to be rude eh and not anyone else.

Thanks gk, I'll see how they scan later this week - just thought they'd be too small to be very clear.

Okay, maybe I meant to word it, if they are not on VM where could I find them? I don't know which ones are the 'previously unpublished' ones.
