Brilliant stuff :-) I was going to post some of those 1974 Jack House photos as well.

Be careful of the 1988 edition of that book though, some photos marked 1988, were actually taken in the early 80's.

Excellent stuff Dave. Makes me want to get out myself - need to next weekend I think.

Here's a 'middle' one of the monument looking west which goes with your early one.

I love the historical importance of this very piece of ground. If Mary Queen of Scots had made it over this very spot, down that hill on the far side and on to Crookston Castle and subsequently Dumbarton Castle, the course of British history, and probably the monarchy would not be as it is today.

I think that the Victorian monstrosity stood in the way of the Inner Ring Road (as
did the tenements on the opposite side of the High Street) so it had to go... :roll:
