Old Partick Police Station

Greets, all.

Found a couple of photos of this historic location - a truly incredible hidden/fogotten place. Here's the blurb from ScreenScotland.com: "Prison hall within the former Partick Police Station in Glasgow. Cells remain in the condition in which they were vacated by the prisoners."

Apparently the cells date back to the late 19th century, and were operational until circa 1990/'91. Was lucky enough to have a wander about the cells the other day. Will take some digital photos next time I'm permitted access (hopefully within the next week).

Cheers,

Tim.

What's it's status ???

Operational ? Abandoned ?

Would you need to arrange access / get permission ?

Looks well smart, thanks for sharing!!

You know, I really don't mind other people's idiosyncratic spelling. But I would have expected that someone who moderates spelling would have written "its" rather than "it's" ...

I vote to leave spelling uncorrected. If people have mis-typed the name of a street, person or building, fair enough, post a correction. Otherwise, leave it be. :)

What do others think?

The jail ceased housing offenders around 1990. Nowadays it is accessed via a simple Yale-locked wooden door within the City Council building. It's quite a time-warp -- going from a modern office set up to an abandoned prison in just one step. Access would have to be gained as the door to the jail is always locked.

Will try to get in there and snap some photos for Thursday.

As far as I'm aware mate that's correct (Taggart), I'm sure I remember my mate telling me he was given a fiver by the film crew to, and I quote "Stay out of the bloody way!"

yes, I believe that's the case as well. Also used for any "Inside Bar- L" kind of shots that I think have popped up occasionally in Taggart.
