looks like it's taken from the top of the stairs at park gardens but it's a bit too high so must be from one of the buildings on park terrace. kelvingrove park just at the bottom right and the sir henry wood hall spire in the distance. marzaroli had an office in around park circus.

I live in the block at the top of the steps, basement flat in about 1993.It looks like it might b the top floor of that one.
At the time i lived there it was the only residential building apart from the student flats in the Park Circus area so it was very quiet at the weekend and night time.
The other rock "n" roll link is that one of the guys in Captain America/Eugenius(?) live on the first floor.Bass Player i believe.Dont know his name but i am sure someone will.

Interesting article about Studio six. Before my time although I do remember Radio Scotland on 242.

Dexter St. Clair wrote:I do believe John McCalman of Radio Clyde actually managed Underhand Jones. I don't want to cast aspersions on the band but I think John managed to plant a story in the local rags about the tapes for their first album/single being stolen from the back of a car. Possessing a copy of Jammy but Nice it's a pity the tapes were found.

Maybe we should carry on talking about so called "legends" like "Christan" then eh Dex?, Jammy but Nice might not have been the best unsigned band's album ever but they had more talent than most of the crap that is being mentioned on this thread, i.e. Christain, Belle and Sebastian, Altered Images and the like.

NO you were quite right to answer Mr Toddy back Thom405L, after all he was having a wee go at Glasband 80,..... Free speech and all that BUT, You won't get Glasband 80 or anyone associated with it bringing out a "Scottish Hall of fame" Section/ Forum and filling it with rubbish like Strawbwerry Switchblade, Christian, Belle and Sebastian and so on, so you were quite right to have a go back Thom405L at least you know what you are talking about mate.

If anyone wants to see, hear and read about proper Scottish talent from the 70s and 80s check out Glasband 80

SCHEME

Postby tomsk » Sat May 09, 2009 2:01 pm

What about the band Scheme for The Glasgow Rock Hall of fame. The only unsigned Band to headline and pack out The Glasgow Apollo in 1984, there was this myth that Scheme were only ever followed by Neds and Junkies which was absolutely not true, they were admired and followed by fellow musicians and decent music fans from all over Scotland and packed out pretty much every Venue they played, they also played The Glasgow Pavillion a few times and appeared on TV in a 6 part Show called "Talk Back" and on Channel 4 Documentary called "Innocent as Hell.
