Glasgow’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Ok folks this thread is for Locations People and Anything Music related to our City, Glasgow.

The music can be from any era and can encompass any music style
Big Band, Jazz, Rock, Metal, Pop, Dance, Punk, Rock and Roll, DJ's, Country, etc

To narrow it down even further:
Locations: Including the venues, address of the gig and dates.
Locations: Of famous bands/groups/ solo artists first gigs
Locations: Band practise locations.
Locations: of birth places where they were brought up or lived – if these are still “active” please pm me with the details.
Locations: of where they used to work, studied or signed on.

Remembered it’s not all about bands from Glasgow it can and will include any famous gigs in Glasgow from any artist, as long as they played in Glasgow

Please feel free to post. I know here on HG there are a lot of you with excellent music knowledge and I welcome all that you can post. I also hope that luckers and folk that haven’t posted anything might be a bit apprehensive of posting. Please don’t worry. I hope even the smallest bit of information is worthy of a post. All information can fit the bigger jigsaw

Please stay on topic.
Apologies if posts get deleted if not in keeping with the title.
Discussions of locations etc are acceptable as long as there’s an outcome.

Example

Band: Johnny and The Self abusers
The Mars bar - Howard St
Went on to become Simple Minds

Street number missing from this. All I remember is it was near the Foam Shop on Howard St.

Franks Sinatra
Glasgow Green

Date missing and location of where he stayed etc.

I hope these two examples can give you an idea of what I mean

If you can think of anything I have missed out please fell free to post or pm me so I can update the thread.

Cheers in advance

What about Oasis
Discovered in King Tuts

Or is that just an urban legend.

What about Orange Juice were they not part of a indi record label that was based in Glasgow?

"The Big Day"—Europe's biggest free street party and musical event—brought more than 500,000 people into the city centre for a day of free music by performers as varied as Wet Wet Wet, Deacon Blue, Sheena Easton and hundreds of community street entertainers.

I worked on this day, ive still got me t-shirt and pass somewhere. I was one of the ones who had to collect the rubbish of the stage after Sheena,

What about the now defunct Oasis? .. now one of the many iterations of 'Bar Bhudda'.

I leathered Marti Pellow for refusing to stop puffing dope in the Big 'O' once .. *true story*
I like him ... He says "Okie Dokie!"

Of course, no Glasgow music discussion would be complete without:

Altered Images - Happy Birthday

and:

Strawberry Switchblade - Since Yesterday

"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.
