For those indie kids from the early 90's here's a website about one of the million unsigned bands in Glasgow.

Does anyone know if my old mate 'Jeff ' is still gigging in and around Glasgow. He's being doing the pub circuit for more than 20 years and l haven't seen him about for a while. He does great covers of rock music and is one of the best pub guitarists l have ever heard.

(good guitars though)

The link should have gone straight to Ian Harvie's tartan guitar, but didn't ... oops

His name is David Rudden

They had a bit of success in germany, but very little here unfortunalty. david still records under the name "endgames".

Yeh that's right he played with the Kim Beacon Band for a short time in the 80's l think. The last time l saw Kim was back in the mid 90's when he came along to see Jeff who was gigging in Rutherglen (cant remember the name of the pub). Kim brought this young girl along with him that he was managing and talked Jeff in to letting her sing; and l have to say she sounded amazing. Some years later, 4 or 5 years ago?, l thought l saw her on the television program X Factor or something similar. I mentioned this to Jeff and he told me it was the same girl that sang at his gig and i'm sure he mentioned that Kim had died, although i'm not 100% sure about that, it may have been Kim's dad he was talking about. I remember it was a good night with Jeff doing his usuall stuff as well as doing a number with Kim on vocals and this young lady doing backing vocals as well as her own spot. I only wish l could remember her name.

Thanks for confirming the date Dex, l was not that far off. It appears that Kim did some backing voclas on Thin Lizzy's 'Johhny The Fox' album, vocals on Tony Bank's solo album and worked with guitarist Geoff Everett.

Malcolm Higgins
Obituary
Jazz musician;

Born: April 4, 1932; Died: July 25, 2011.

MALCOLM “Malky” Higgins, who has died aged 79, was trumpeter and sometime vocalist of the Clyde Valley Stompers, a trad jazz band who built up a huge fan base not only in Scotland but throughout the UK and across the Atlantic in the 1950s and early 1960s.

.... for a time the Stompers were hugely popular, appearing on the UK’s most popular TV shows and often outshining the upcoming pop stars.

Mr Higgins’ piercing trumpet was a feature of the top-of-the-ratings Lonnie Donegan show, starring Donegan himself, the Glasgow-born King of Skiffle. The Stompers toured with Donegan (who became their recording manager) and such top names as Louis Armstrong, Shirley Bassey, Petula Clark and blues legend Big Bill Broonzy.

Anyone remember Rubber Yahoo? Do they qualify for the Glasgow’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? I saw them a couple of times, thought they were great, I had the Sharks single but then they seemed to disappear and I’m not sure if they released anything else.
Can’t remember this track “Where are we now?” but it has a couple of glimpses of Glasgow in the 80s and even a shot of Listen Records at 1.06 which might be of interest to someone.
