I would if I could HH, but I can't, since I don't have a scanner.

Glasgowken, I enjoyed your pictures of the Renfrew Ferry, but let me tell you, I'd never have guessed they were of the Renfrew Ferry. What, with its size, and the white-washed house on the north side, I'd have guessed it was a ferry somewhere up in the Highlands. The Renfrew Ferry with which I was familiar looked just like the old Erskine Ferry.

Renfrew still has a certain wee town feel to it, although that may be changing soon, I believe there's a fair bit of building work planned.
I remember the old chain ferry myself, spent a few Saturday afternoons as a nipper, going back & forth. The crew always left the engine room open for all to see, it was quite a sight watching the chain being hauled through the cogs :)

Sorry HH, I don't have that kind of camera. Oh, sure, I could photograph the ticket with my auld box-camera, but how, prey tell, do i post it? You'll get a picture of it one of these days, I promise.

I liked your pictures. I think I have seen the Renfrew Ferry as a concert hall on one of my trips home... it was docked up at the old Broomielaw, if my memory serves me.

I took a wee trip over to Renfrew today - ferry is only a quid but if you've got a zonecard covering either zone G3 or G8 then you can travel on the ferry.

Took some photos which I'll post later, but would be up for an extended wander (my first HG outing)- Saturday's suit me best.

Yes, Sat should be fine. Shall we move all the wander stuff into it's own thread?

As he said earlier in the thread, Dugald had a selection of Erskine Ferry tickets. He has very kindly sent me them for my collection :-)
Another thing which interested me, was the advert for 'Carlaw Cars' on the rear. From 1930 to 1932, this company hired out garage space in Finneston Street to GCT for some of it's early bus fleet, (the area where the Citroen dealer now stands), I only remembered that when I was photographing them.

And for good measure he also sent a selection of tickets from elsewhere.

Many thanks Dugald, i'll take good care of them.

Thank you very much Ken, for posting the pictures of the tickets. You did a very good job of the presentation, and i must say, I feel quite good about seeing my name mentioned beside the pictures... thank you.

Posibilities of the Govan Ferry being resurected by GCC Item 2

INTRODUCTION
1.1 One of the objectives in regenerating the River Clyde is to facilitate increased activity on
the river itself. The Policy and Resources Committee on 20 June 2006 recognised:
- that there is a requirement for a new slipway to be provided to encourage river use
and facilitate the River Festival; and
- a slip sited adjacent to the Clyde Martime Trust premises, within the Riverside
Museum could be managed by the Clyde Martime Trust.

1.2 On the 5 April 2007, the City Council approved the commissioning of a feasibility study into
the provision of a pedestrian ferry service between the Glasgow Riverside Museum at
Pointhouse on the north bank of the River Clyde and Govan on the south bank. This study
is to be progressed, however, fundamental to the operation of a ferry service is the location
and development of a slip for access at Pointhouse, Partick

1.3 This report confirms the preferred location for a slipway at Pointhouse on the River Kelvin
and seeks £2.0 million for its development.
