Posibilities of the Govan Ferry being resurected by GCC
Item 2INTRODUCTION
1.1 One of the objectives in regenerating the River Clyde is to facilitate increased activity on
the river itself. The Policy and Resources Committee on 20 June 2006 recognised:
- that there is a requirement for a new slipway to be provided to encourage river use
and facilitate the River Festival; and
- a slip sited adjacent to the Clyde Martime Trust premises, within the Riverside
Museum could be managed by the Clyde Martime Trust.

On the 5 April 2007, the City Council approved the commissioning of a feasibility study into
the provision of a pedestrian ferry service between the Glasgow Riverside Museum at
Pointhouse on the north bank of the River Clyde and Govan on the south bank. This study
is to be progressed, however, fundamental to the operation of a ferry service is the location
and development of a slip for access at Pointhouse, Partick1.3 This report confirms the preferred location for a slipway at Pointhouse on the River Kelvin
and seeks £2.0 million for its development.
