Quick visit to the Titan crane today.
With hindsight I would have taken a few more photos of the base area :? maybe next time.
The Sun was in and out all day.

Something like this should happen with the Finneston Crane, not some bloody restaurant

Cheers :-)

I've been meaning to go for a couple of weeks now. I hate going to these places at weekends when it might be crowded, and have screaming weans everywhere, and I wanted to avoid the bank holiday for the same reason, so today was ideal.

I must admit the height did give the willies  Heights usually don't bother me, but the grill under my feet, with nothing but a straight drop to the quay, was a wee bit unnerving ::):
If anyone is a bit jittery, walk near the edge, the crane structure underneath gives more of a secure feel, but don't let the height put you off. It's perfectly safe, and well worth it.

Brill photos Kenny, I'm not normally to bad with heights but I think I would probably crap it up there, looking through that floor! Especially if it was windy as well.

What's the first thing you do when somebody says "Don't look down".....?

That's what happened to another guy there ::): He looked as if he was going to pass out for a minute 8O

BTW, visitors have to get their ticket at the Purser's office on the other side of the new college building. A wee bus then takes you to the crane.

I of course didn't read that, and walked along the dirt road to the crane first
But the staff were very kind (apparantly a lot of visitors do that) and let me take the bus back to get the ticket. Even if you already have a ticket, you must go to the office to exchange it, and take the bus.
But the walk allowed me to get some interesting photos, the ship pics, rusty metal, and stairway.

Nice one. Went with a couple of pals yesterday, but unfortunately we asked if we could walk along first so we missed out. Also the sun came out about an hour after we'd left.

Lying down so you can't see the grating and it looks like there's nothing between you and a 150-foot drop is pretty terrifying.

Image

Nothing like as terrifying as their emergency staircase, though. Haven't these people heard of the Hounds of Tindalos?

I was in a wheat field today and there were dozens of free tickets to the Titan lying around attached to deflated balloons that must've been released when the place opened.
