Contemporary Glasgow architecture

Not exactly "hidden" but very Glasgow and of particular interest to me are the new residential and office blocks springing up. Anyone else share my passion?

I don't have anything against them as such, but your first picture shows a particular hate of mine. There's been no attempt made to blend in with the surroundings. There's no continuity, and it sticks out like a sore thumb.

For a really good example of this, check out Bewley's Hotel on Bath Street.

Man...

I would love a city centre penthouse top floor apartment....

Even for a couple of weeks.

Agreed. I've nothing against modern architectural designs, but that building
in the first picture looks like it was designed by someone who's never even
seen an episode of Taggart, much less actually visited the city.

I think Town Planners put way too much effort into maintaining the 'ambience' of streetscapes, I'm all for a mixture of old and new.

Eh?

Its clad in blonde sandstone.
It respects the height of the neighbouring buildings.
It replaces a seventies eyesore.

How on earth can it break the continuity of the street?

If you don't like it then you don't like it I suppose, but I can't follow your reasoning.
