And finally, my favourite: the mural on the side of the chemistry building:

This is on the side of chemistry that faces the Zoology building. Legend has it that one of the zoology professors was enraged when Chemistry was getting built, as it blocked the nice open view over playing fields from his office window.
So the scupture of interesting zoological creatures was added to keep him quiet!

It's the opening titles to Dilbert! :)

BTW, not sure about that Billy statue - unless it's been moved.
It currently sits in a fenced-off grass patch down-from-and-opposite the Provand's Lordship.

The gate on the Pearce Lodge is actually the main entrance to the Old College

And here a pic of the famous staircase with the professors in full sub-fusc leaving the Old College for the last time in 1870 (the guy with the beard isn't Dumbledor, he was Dr Thomas Barclay. principal from 1857-73)

You really do have to wonder what was on their mind when they commissioned that one...

This relates to the building in Argyle Street...you know the one next door to the celtic shop beside nobles amusement. Well, it has two statues, with their heads bent over horizontally proping the pillar up. That has always amazed me the effort that has went into it

There is a bronze on the Clyde Street at Custom House of a Woman with her hands held aloft,I had heard it was presented to Glasgow from the Spanish in memory of all the Scots that fought in the revolution...Any more info? :?:

I'd almost forgotten about that one, is there a plaque denoting it's history :?:

Interesting angle on the Spanish civil war of 1936-1939 and the fact that many Scots/Glaswegians went and fought in this very just proletarian civil war.

There was high unemployment here at the time,so I guess getting paid
to fight in Spain was a good deal for your Scottish soldier of fortune.
