Thanks Neil.

You can see the flat roofs of the tenements on Househillmuir Road before they were given a roof by Barratt and what would have been the houses on the other side of Linnhead.

The scene would still be very recognizable today (apart from the water tower!).

Ach, here's a proper blow-up of the water tower, taken from my original TIF scan of my neg. You can see the railings on top now:-

Good one Neil.

I maybe shouldn't say this to you but during the demolition I got a couple of photos taken by the Council's Photographer for some publicity that never materialised.

I was at the controls of the large machine that was responsible for taking the Water Tower apart. I recently asked someone to try and locate the photos but they never got back to me.

When I was a wee boy staying in Lunderston Drive you got a sweeping vista from my bedroom window. Priesthill looked like it was all the one big building and I thought it was, like, you know, a castle, with the water tower perched on top, where the king of the castle would survey his domain.

Right, it's obviously way past my bedtime.....

Thanks guys but there is no chance that someone like me will ever become Lord Provost.

Oh Dex would that have been a positive or a negative story line for the picture?

The Ruchill one was demolished, here's an old image from the Britain from Above Website (incidentally you can see what looks like a tunnel portal just to the left of the water tower top centre)
