The Cathcart HG walk you organised a couple of years ago was pretty good, BT. It'd be good to do that one again for the folk that missed it the first time. And the ones that can't for the life of them remember where it was it ended up.

I would love to join another Cathcart walk as I missed the first. I used to live there and would enjoy traipsing across my old stomping ground.

Im not sure I can remember where it ended up as I think we made it through the park then just wandered until we ended up at the train station.

Im pretty busy for the next few weeks but as soon as I get a chance I will organise another. Maybe make it right up to Netherlee via the riverbank then back down Clarkston road this time?

There was a good Cathcart walk published in the Glasgow magazine this month if you cant wait for me.

Dave.

We met at snuff mill bridge, went along the walk way, down towards the old house at the river edge, then back along to Holmwood House, through Cathcart Cemetery and also Linn Park (?).

Lunch was in The Old Smiddy, was my first wander with HG. Jan 14 2007

Oh and we also did Cathcart Road ::):

That corner was the scene of a tragic false fire alarm which caused 70 deaths in 1849 at the old Theatre Royal.

Took me a few minutes and a bit of researching to work out what happened here. Where Frasers is (now), the building jutting out has obviously been demolished and replaced by another bit of the same design (as Frasers) and extended down to Argyle Street. I'm sure all the buildings on the east side of the street have also been demolished and replaced but it's hard to tell. Looking at the pic, you'd think the lane on the east side goes somewhere but it's just a dead-end. Compare the old picture to the map and you can draw your own conclusions...
