I think it's further up than that Dex

The Lewis building can still seen further along and that slightly curved building is the one they took down to extend the St Unich Centre.

The junction on the left is Mitchell St. I took some photos today, but my desktop is screwing about at the moment. I'll put one up when I've fixed it.

The past picture is taken from the corner of Union St, not Mitchell St. If you were standing at the corner of Mitchell St and Argyle St you wouldn't see the panelled building on the right of the picture, because it would be behind you.

This would have been easier a year ago when the Clydesdale Bank building was still there.

There is also the tram lines and traffic lights to point it towards being union street.

I think it's to do with the Camera Lenses,. i'm sure one of the geeks could explain the technicalities Thanks to Brigit and again to Dave for the responses. I'm having fun with Street view.

The Street View image is distorted; that section of Argyle St between Jamaica St and St Enoch isn't nearly as long as it appears on the image. It's easy to forget, because it's so well done, that it's not an actual photo from a real vantage point, but assembled in a computer's memory.

How strange, the street in the old photo seems to run downhill, whereas in the present one it appears to run uphill. 8O

Well considering they pulled down every building on the left and pretty much all of the right you might also consider they'd remodel what they had left to make it more dutch.

Yes, a windmill would have been nice.

Well once the braes can handle the full load you will get windmills in the cities. I'm working on a project that encourages builders and landowners to view the prop generator as an investment. Not ground breaking but it seems the government is happy to help too

Well the term 'happy to help' probably tells the bank manager not to be cynical about the potentials that the landowner is offering. It's a bit like the £52billion bail out but rather than bailing out bad debt they take risk on would-be good debt plus everyone gets green beans yay.
