Not that long ago, you could walk straight up there you'd come out at Buchanan Bus Station.
Remember that crappy old waste ground they used as a carpark? I'm sure there was a derelict pub just sat in the middle of it all. I think it was Cunningham St and an old bit of Parli Road(?) That area was a pure dump before they built the Galleries/John Lewis. Easy to forget how bad it was. You took you're life in your hands walking through there late at night.
