Since not a lot has been happening on this thread for a while I thought I would give it a bit of a re-fresh.

Loads of pics to come and sorry if they have appeared before.

The before shots are courtesy of Virtual mitchel and the Eric Eunson book Olc Cathcart, langside and mount florida.

Fantastic, BT, you have re-ignited this thread with a bang! Image

Beautiful streetlights on this one, are they modern reproductions?

There's a post halfway down this page that mentions the wooden 'Football Special' platform at Mount Florida. It claims that the platform was removed in 1966, but I'm pretty sure I used it in the late seventies when I went to see either a) Motherwell being cheated out of a Scottish cup final appearance, or b) Scotland getting gubbed 1-0 by England in the last game before our triumphant Argentina World Cup appearance. I see it's not on this snap, though, so presumably it predates the thirties.

Great stuff, BTJ.

Thanks everybody, I cant believe I had to search for this thread as it used to always be near the top of the first page.

Josef, I think the wooden part of the platform extended from under the footbridge closest to the camera towards cathcart station so wouldnt appear in these pictures.

Good work BT. We should all be out there doing the business!!

Anyway, aye you're right about the wooden platform. It ran the length of and directly below the walkway that runs from the footbridge in the picture down to Battlefield Road.
