Then I remembered I'd been in Stirling a week past on Saturday...

I all so seem to remember there was a fountain that had cups and saucers as the attraction. Also there was a tour round some High Tec flats :? and the trams…

yeah, I remember the flats. Friend of mine worked there for the duration of the event. Was basically just a marketing spiel for the yuppie pads that opened in that area.

I seem to remember a big plastic bit of swiss cheese too that had holes you could climb through. I also remember the balloon race... now that was a spectacle!!! I was living in Shettleston at the time and remember the balloons coming over. There was one like a champagne bottle that landed in my street, (St. Mark St) and was only down for a matter of minutes but I managed to get a 4 foot inflatable champagne bottle from the pilot... captain... whatever! I was dead chuffed as well... Supermaket Sweep had just started that year I think ::):

...I long for the days when i was content with a blow-up toy!

...that dont sound too good 8O

My dad took loads of photos of the Empire Exhibition when he was fourteen.

Once I've got them scanned would anyone be interested in seeing them?

Why ask? Post man! Are they colour? I paid a tenner for some colour shots, the place looked incredible.

PS all I can remember about the garden festival was a giant badger set that scared the shit out of me, that and those sticky hands that you could lasoo around folk covering them in gunk, but then that could have been something else entirely, my memory isn't too hot.
