*They set it alight, but I was not aware that it was to mark the end of the GF, I just thought it was there to mark the 25th anniversary of the closure of the NBL in 1962.
That would have been in 1987 then, not 1988.*
I remember that poor guy got his leg blown off when one of the fireworks (size of an oil drum) exploded, he was on Scotland Today for weeks after it.
