If these photos wer taken behind 694 Duke Street they are probably the site of J & R Garroway, Netherfield Chemical Works. They manufactured all kinds of acids, fertilisers and soap, charcoal and acetates. They closed down in 2004 and moved to Grangmouth and were then taken over by a Swedish firm, Feralco

Excellent pictures, always wondered what the site was, I see this every day on my way to and from work on the train (north clyde line!)

The old google maps are great, makes you hope they will store them online so you can look back once they finally get updated, there's only so much looking at old maps you can do! Just out of interest which sites do people use when looking at old maps online? I use http://www.old-maps.co.uk which is OK, but I notice that there are better quality old maps in a lot of the posts on here.
