Aye, fantastic trip folks, many thanks to the organisers and for the invite!
Good to put a face (and a real name) to so many I hadn't met before too, just a pity the situation wasn't really conducive to "get to know you better" chat!
Anyways, here's the pick of my collection of scrawny shots, with some words of explanation for those of you unlucky enough not to be there...
Inside the depot where the trains sleep for the night, am I right in remembering that this was the old building where the lifting pit used to be?
Inside the workshops, fairly large area with this section looking to be where the bodies are lifted and the spare bits and pieces are kept.
Nice wee touch of the old on the wall of the workshops!
The other part of the workshops with the inspection pits.
Into the tunnels at last! This being a section that goes under a river, the construction method used cast iron sections.
All sorts of unusual creatures lurking down there!
Merkland St as it was....
And Merkland St now...
Quite an eventful wee stretch of track, this bit shows the repaired bomb damage from the Second World War. I'll scan and post a contemporary pic of the damage when I get a chance.
The home stretch.
Nearly there...
Govan Station, from a view point I hope to never see during normal operational hours...
