Supercounty's going back a bit. It referred to Lanarkshire as a whole and the campaign spread the word that mighty Lanarkshire - Scotland's Garden of Eden, breadbasket of the world and unparalleled cosmic paradise - was the place to locate to. I would guess that those seasonal Larkhall bulbs are getting a bit long in the filament.

Somebody did a cracking paraphrase of the slogan in the letters page of The Record, managing to get in not only Buckie, but also Carlie and quite a few others of that ilk.

Google suggests that it's "futuristic", which is a bit rubbish.

I think that could be right! I wasn't sure, but it seems to fit in my head...

This looks like the headquarters for South Lanarkshire Council in Almada Steet, Hamilton.

CHRISTMAS this year in Glasgow will be bigger, brighter - and greener - than ever before.

For the first time in 17 years new festive lights are being put up in George Square at a cost of £50,000.

They are made up of hundreds of thousands of light-emitting diode (led) bulbs which not only give a brighter light but are more energy-efficient.

They will form curtains of red, sprinkled with enormous stars, which will hang from pillars in the square. Meanwhile a 60ft-Christmas tree, which forms the centrepiece of the decorations, will also be covered in the brand new led lights.

All the old lights, including the bells which seem to swing from side to side, have been refurbished to ensure they are in good working order. City council staff have already started hanging the lights even though Christmas is still two months away.

Nice to see some investment happening. Although £50k...

The old style lights are already up in George Square - the bells etc, and the ceiling of lights in Royal exchange square is up ([personally I'd like them to leave the ceiling of lights up all year round as it makes that Square and the alleys down the side of Borders so much brighter and more welcoming).

I wish The Big Hoose had enough money to light up more of the City Centre.

aye more lights in more streets would be nice. Is a sad thing the the christmas I liked the city centre the best came courtesy of Coca Cola  Surely the shops could chip in for some more wee white fairy lights :?:
