OT: web site listing

Does anyone know the best way to get a website promoted so that it shows up in Google & Yahoo searches? It's not for my own website, but for a brief website I'm doing for my work. It'd really impress my boss if I could do this without him having to spend any money :D

Yes, i do this for money by day (few signs of which are executed in this site at the moment...but soon...)

Basically the more good relevant text content the better.

Make sure the cose is clean and conforms to W3 standards for accessibility (which is good for search engines)
Get as many links to the site as possible.
Structure the HTML document...

<h1>
<p>
<h2>
<p>
<h3>

Use keywords in the content....

etc, etc...
Beware of yawning dogs.

make sure your Title tags are very relevant to the page content and your desired search phrases. put things that are meant to be headers in H1 tags, sub-headers in H2 tags.

Also everything Sharon said.
