Myself and Flash Andy were talking about this last night.... I suggested that they werent filling it in, they'd just dammed it and drained it while the building works goes on....

Since its shown in the future plan, isnt that a possibility?

Neo-liberal gentrification gone mad.

As John has said, we need more focus on affordable housing. We
have enough retail outlets as it is.

I had a look at the plan at the Glasgow Harbour sales office and the Quay wasn't on it. I thought I had seen other plans where it was still shown.

Resurrecting this topic for a somewhat literal postcript -

Following the route now available again just south of the expressway, from the SECC to the transport museum site, there's a giant wiggle in the path just before the Kelvin, where someone's assembled a great heap of what looks like tangled treestumps mixed with bits of ex-quay structure -

They've used one piece as a road barrier -

That's about - erm - a foot square, and at the other end there's this...

You could say that was The Sharp End.

Did they reinforce the piles for quay walls like that, anyone know?

The steel spike would be to reduce damage to the end of timber when it was hammered into the ground.

:D yeah yeah yeah, kind of deduced that, just I wouldn't have imagined (if I'd thought about it at all) that anyone could have gone to the trouble of forming darling little harnesses for the ends of all the spikes.... but thank you for answering...
