Well it's long overdue; it's time to write up some threads.

What's your favourite HG thread either from HG Projects or Glasgow Chat? Let us know so we can add some new content.

And of course, feel free to do your own write up and forward it to either myself or Sharon for perusal and you'll get credit for the work you've done :)

Note: any write-up you submit may be subject to edit and addition and does not constitute a formal contract.

Past Present is the best thread ever, obnov.

Sculptures and Statues around Glasgow has been superb for highlighting many objects I've either missed or not paid enough attention to over the years.

Subway pre-and during modernisation - in colour!is also wonderful and I think there were other threads also concentrating on colour archive photographs which is something you just don't really find anywhere else (although I spent much of the time wishing that the bloody bus wasn't obscuring most of the photo  )

Words That Only Sound Right in Glaswegian!! was probably the best laugh and the only decent thread I've ever started was Hidden House in Woodlands.

Thanks for the replies, a few good suggestions there! Please be reminded however that topics in Random Distractions will never leave that sub-section never mind appear as a write-up on the main page.

Cheers folks, keep em coming :)

Trouble with the subway one, unfortunately, is that the pics are from a book still under copyright - I've often dithered over removing them, but it seems a popular thread and would be rendered kinda useless without them! Just have to kinda justify it to myself by hoping that it's encouraged folk to go out and buy it!

My faves -

Past Present, although again, many of the past pics are from copyrighted sources.

Shop Fronts - a nice wee archive of what often turn out to be short-lived old signs re-emerging during refurbishments

I think sometimes you have to bend the rules for the greater good (education ?). I'm certain a lot of people have bought that book now who wouldn't have even known about it.

The copyright laws haven't kept up with the internet, and are more suited to the long process of commercial publishing.

Best post has to be Be Happy -bridges over the River Clyde
go and look at it again and see the amount of work involved.

I would concur with Cumbo on that one. The posting about the Bridges over the Clyde is quite something. I have more than once urged folk to have a look at it.

My favourite threads that stick out in my mind now are Past & Present and Subway pre-and during modernisation - in colour!
I'll take a look back later and see what else I thought was good.
