Does anyone know of any plans to restore this gem?

It's a grade A listed building so you can probably expect fireworks soon.

Has the "Best Value" review of parks finished yet. I think it probably has.

This might have been a place for the public/pressure groups to raise this issue, although I'm sure we all know that these things are just an exercise to justify what they were going to do anyway.

Haven't been up there since I was a kid - time for a visit to see what's still there.
I used to fish for sticklbacks in the ponds up the back. They usually lived for a few days in a ginger bottle before they started going moldy.
The hothouse was something else - you could go upstairs and walk round the rooftop walkway.
Anyone remember the paddle boats with the handles at the side? You could get a nasty blister if you ended up in a race (as was usually the case).
I remember when they demolished the big water tank. My Granny lives in Broomfield road and all her windows got blown in. Bit too much TNT used I think.
It was a really magical place when I was wee. Anyone else got any good memories of the place ?

a balornock boy masel, springburn park is a wee bit neglected these days, i mind the boats on the pond and the crap joke of 'house' when he shouted your number in, the big house has fence around it now, dangerous building etc, but apparantly some of the plants still survive inside im told
The rockery was badly vandalised and was cut off to the public, shame.

Same as the victoria park used to love the boats there, i loved them so much i walked into the pond when i was 4 watching the auld oar splash fight.

Used to love the carp ponds but sadly they were all killed off or stolen by some losers

The Rockery in Sprinburn park has now been repaired and is once again open to the public. If it's not too wet at the weekend I'll take a walk up there and take a few snaps. It looks really lovely now.

Hopefully the vandals won't get to it again - I see they've put some surveilance cameras up.

Ashamed to say this is a park I have never been to. Now that I have seen your photos I will need to make a point of going for a walk round on day.

Thanks Katherine! The pictures brought back some happy memories of being a nipper. I'll need to re-visit the place (maybe with a jam jar and a plastic net). On a related topic, my Gran used to say Springburn park had the highest point in greater Glasgow - any truth in that or was she telling me stories again...

I think she's right. I seem to remember the top of Balgrayhill flats next to the park being the highest point you can get to in Glasgow and they're downhill from the park

I'm told often the highest point is at Garthamlock!
