sorry but of the aussies can prove that they have finance in place to rebuild her then let her go, sunderland have yet to prove they have the money and what I can see happening is she moves to wearside only to rot away in the way she has been doing for the last 20 odd years at irvine

I quite agree with that. To be honest, the few Sunderland based historical websites and FB pages have mentioned little on the ship, although I'm not convinced it's been particularly well publicised in the media in the north east.

You'd think, though, they'd let us have the rudder! :D

I'm all for letting this ship rot its too late to restore or preserve it. This ship has not been taken care of for the last 4 decades.

Do we know if that's an image of the City of Adelaide or just a stock image used by the BBC?

I ask because it 'looks' like the work of Montague Dawson, a maritime artist I've been investigating recently.

says its the city of Adelaide here

http://www.edwalkermarine.com/HISTORIC_SHIPS.html

doesnt say the artist though for some reason but a search of Dawson's paintings doesnt bring up anything about this ship

Great pics Dex.
Did that crane lift it onto the barge on its own? It hardly seems big enough.

Dex. There's a "Sunderland tugs and shipbuilding" Facebook page I'm on who I'm sure would like to see those pictures and post them up. Full credit to you will be given by the lad who runs it and a mention for the HG site. However, I won't pass the photos on if you don't want me to.

Link to the page so you can see the kind of stuff they do.

Good day for Iphone pix. That crane was shifting the pipes/struts when I was there.

Great photos, Dex. She looks fairly solid.
