Fairgrounds

I'm doing a project on fairgrounds, mainly Glasgow Green, Vinegar Hill and one in Hawthorn Street, Springburn.

Does anyone have any stories about them that would help me, thanks!

Strangly enough, I've been trying to pinpoint the exact whereabouts of the Vinegarhill Show Ground for most of the day. It would appear to be around the "Parkhead Forge" area, can you narrow it down any on Google Earth? There are some good pics of the "Shows" in the Evening Times "Times Past" series.

No, I was trying to pinpoint the actual Show Ground. I am researching the "Wild West" shows that visited Glasgow and came across a pic on Scran of "Broncho Tom" at Vinegarhill in 1915. I have also seen Vinegarhill listed as being near New City Road.

There's a few pictures of Vinegarhill on SCRAN. According to one, it says "Vinegarhill, 483 Gallowgate".

there was the 'showmans guild' in Germiston just off Royston road, its a place these guys used to rest up off season, It houses now, but if i remember correctly, it was mainly the Codona family who used it. Im know this from memory, so it may be worth looking into about them.
