Interesting - didn't realise the menu was as old as that. I think the Beresford stopped being a hotel in the late nineteen-forties, perhaps even earlier.

Sort of scraping the bottom of the barrel now for relevant stuff, but nobody's posted on this thread for a week, so here goes:

Did anyone else spot the typo in the hosepipe ban notice?

I deliberately didn't mention it as I wondered whether anyone would pick up on it.

Had to include this. That wonderful Glasgow institution for boys young & old (now sadly gone :(), the Clyde Model Dockyard.

Lot of my ads come from the Glasgow guide books put out by the Corporation. I thought i'd show the covers, which I think are very charming.

1906 (see the smiley moon ?) and 1911.

(My favourite, wish I had a poster of this) 1934, and 1935.

Just noticed the price of the "Carbo Magnetic" razor in the ad above 6/6 or £0.325

I was in the shaver shop in Glasgow recently and noticed they still have cut-throat razors for sale there. A choice on display, the price has gone up ever so slightly, the two I noticed the tag on being around the £50 mark.
