The Moss Heights were definitely not 'brutalist' in that case.
Inside they were similar in layout to where I lived in Pollok, which was a 'T1' four storey tenament. Very similar fittings, the same metal framed windows, and pre-dated the Moss Heights by about 4 years.
I loved the curved balconies on the Moss Heights. They had style. They had rubbish chutes. No middens!
I used to deliver milk up the Moss Heights many years ago, and one time I was around the back of them facing the Crematorium waiting on my milk van and a Skeleton asked me for a bottle of full cream...
"Ma kin ah dae a jobby?" Jobbies, jobbies are funny a bit.
Don't know how seriously to take this but apparently residents of Moss Heights say they are not being given replacement kitchens or bathrooms because the GHA cannot make up its mind whether to carry out internal renovations or alternatively have the blocks demolished.
There was a report about this in the Evening Times last week. Does anybody have any further information?
It would be a great pity in my opinion if these blocks were pulled down, but of course others may disagree.
As far as I was aware Moss Heights are amongst the most popular flats in Glasgow.
I have not heard of any problem about investment. It wasn't an issue that I would have become involved in as the local councillor Alister Watson is dealing with the concerns raised by residents. However since Viceroy has asked I will make some enquiries and report back.
I suspect this is a communications breakdown between the GHA and its tenants [not an unusual occurrence it seems]. But I'd be interested to know whether the report has any substance.
One of the problems is that GHA get the blame when in fact it may be the Local Housing Organisation that manages the houses has not put forward projects for the investment programme.
I am not saying this is what has happened here as I do not know all the facts. Hopefully I will be able to get the information relating to the flats.
