Not saying you're wrong, but could the long stones have been placed there after the tram lines were taken up?

Possibly, though it could also have been a railway line - some streets
had freight lines running on them.

I think they are called Causysetts (if I can read my own handwriting) for carriages.
It was to stop the shaking of goods and passengers.

Below are three pictures of track for trains still in place but unused now.
This will be gone soon.

Tried to post this earlier... the joys of computing inna place public, (library). There's a cracking cast switch box of sorts that sits northbound on the high street, twix the old college bar and a kebaberie of sorts. Lovely old wine coloured affair, with gold trim, bearing the legend GCTD. Obviously the old corporation tramways. Have threatened to take a kodak memory of it, but the sun doesn't seem to favour the west side of high street, so a reliable light meter is recommended fossilmeister.

Crivvens knows its future in an otherwise decimated high street of yore. If you cross the street into Duke street, you'll see the lampost bar, where an original victorian cast iron standard still burns proudly inside, illuminating the shady characters who are known to frequent it. I think the pub was built around the standard, which stood at the corner of Burrell's lane and Duke street. Nevertheless, for a half and a half, the bartender will reveal its history, and no doubt, a whole lot more...

There's still a bit of track left at Yorkhill Quay at the Arnold Clark garage. But it will no doubt be ripped up in a few years with the Glasgow Harbour development.
