I think this is the right place for these.

I have a mate who runs a hot rod business and his first premesis were on south street in the shadow of the granery. When this was getting flattened he was moved nearer the tunnel and told it would be permanent. 6 months later and after he had invested a lot in a spray booth they moved him again to Yorkhill quay. Ferry street I think and again told he would have the premesis for several years. Lasted 6 months again. As he was clearing his workshop he called me to let me know he had a VW type 3 he was going to break for parts but didnt have the time now so I was welcome to anything I could remove. While down there I got some shots of the inside of the warehouse where he was based and i think they they fit this thread. Even now they are long gone.

What a featureless monstrosity it is. It reminds me of Palma Airport Car Park. Is this is what Glasgow has to look forward to. Featureless monstrosities? But hey it's got blue lights.

It's a glass abomination, considering what used to occupy the site now dominated by the Aurora building.

The YMCA was a gothic monstrosity.

Gothic Monstrosity vs. Glass Abomination - sounds like a Japanese B-Movie.

Each to their own, but I'd rather have the overstated gothic than the soul-less, generic boredom of the Aurora.

They weren't a gothic band - they were a disco act...

That's when Dexter, came up to me,
And said, HH, take a walk up the street.
It's a place there, called the y.m.c.a.
They can start you back, banana man, on your way.

Correct.

The Christian Institute/YMCA stood directly opposite the Post Office building on Bothwell Street. I used to work in the building that took its place - suffice to say, it's also a glass abomination.

Oh I dunno... I kinda like it. It's impressive, although in a very different way.

I share your feelings on Aurora though...

Good pic of Christian Institute. There used to be a restaurant in basement where I used to have lunch when I first arrived in Glasgow & worked just up hill in 213 St Vincent street. Think lunch cost 1/9. I always thought the stone detailing on the Christian Institute was superb & am surprised it wasnt made a "classified" building.

Didnt the car registration place use to be across road in Bothwell Street. If I remember correctly that was an Insurance Company office block built in 1920s & won an award for the Archictects who I think were Wylie Shanks & Wylie

That's right, Scottish Legal Life Assurance Society Limited. The building was designed by one Edward G Wylie, hence the name of the awful Wetherstones pub now occupying the north-west corner.
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is generally adopted.
