RE: Cambuslang dookit

From what i've seen and read on the net,the dookit in cambuslang golf course used to be part of the westburn house estate.
Due south from it was quite a large curling pond and north-west side was a ornate fountian, sadly now long gone.
However on some sites like google earth you can still see traces of where both used to be.

Hi, can anyone help? I'm attempting to carry out an art project on dookits and the culture around them but there is very little on the net. I have a friend who's neighbour has a loft and he explained it's a sort of kidnapping game, whoever can tempt a bird into their loft gets to keep it? I was hoping someone here might be able to shed a little more light on the rules and culture?

Cheers.

Hey dookitart, welcome to the forum.

While i know wery little about the subject i have however heard about people doing that. from what i've read it's
considererd very bad form to do so. I could be wrong but i seem to remember reading in the papers a few years
back that people have been beaten and threatend for doing it.

A lifetimes work obliterated in minutes. :|

APPLICATION
09/00791/DC DATE VALID 02.04.2009

SITE ADDRESS
Site At 12-36 Speirshall Close At Dyke Road Glasgow

PROPOSAL
Erection of flatted residential development (Outline): Potentially contrary to Development
Policy Principle DEV 11 Greenspace of the City Plan.

GCC

REPRESENTATIONS/CONSULTATIONS

• I have maintained a pigeon hut on the land for 25 years, if development is granted what will happen to
my hut.

Response: The hut is located on land that is owned by the Council and the applicant has sought to
purchase the land from the Council if the application is successful. In terms of planning legislation,
there is no requirement for the hut to be retained and its retention would potentially undermine the
intention in upgrading part of the open space within the site.

Glasgow. Doncha love it?

Please make particular reference to the word 'upgrading' in your answer (20).
