I saw this Routemaster at lunchtime today. The big hoarding on its side was advertising a book which has just been published about the Shirley McKie fingerprint case. In fact I suspect that was the only reason why it was out on the road.

Coz you hate Routemasters so much Ken, here are some pictures of RM's from 1986. Quality is not very good, taken from Routemaster memories DVD available from Ian Allen publishing

Image
Union Street looking to the side you can see Dunkin Donuts and Viva? What was Viva?

A fleet of 15 buses leave Aldenham Works down in London in 1986 to head for Glasgow, the unpainted RM is for spares.

Here is another from Argyle Street 1986 no RM's though!

Closed after a stabbing. The Cathouse moved up from Brown's.

Suspect Montrose Street's a bit off this one's usual route …

Belongs to First Glasgow that one. Used for hires, events, and the like. Brought from London in 2003.

T'was De Ja Vu when the stabbing happened. It was my first ever night going to the dancin' (under 18's) and She was stabbed about 20ft away from me in the middle of the dancefloor. A wee while later it opened back up as Heaven (Great place) for a couple of years, then, after a re-furb, opened as Industria. Last I remember the shiny steel Industria doors with planet-type efforts as handles were still on there.

Salad days!

If I am able I will get a pic of an interesting bus in Kilmarnock. It's been painted in old Western Buses livery to mark the 75 anniversary. Stagecoach attempting to persuade us they actually have some history.

Today, a really old yellow and green bus was driving along Dumbarton Road with 'Scotstoun' on it as the destination. It had passengers in it and may have come out of the Transport Museum.
