I got the above a little wrong, I happened to be in Glasgow about a fortnight ago, and had a look, first time for about twenty years, the picture above is the exit from the Kelvin Rooms I had mistaken it for the entrance of which there is now no sign whatsoever.

Resurrecting an old thread here - does anyone have any further information on this place? Is it definitely the exit from the Kelvin Rooms as ColinC says? That would account for the fancier windows on the first floor between here and Dowanside Lane.

I'm always fascinated by the frontage every time I walk past, and I'd love to know where the 'Dowanhill House' sign came from, since the actual Dowanhill House was situated to the west in the block now bounded by Dowanhill St/ Lawrence St/ Hyndland St/ White St.
