According to the OS maps from between the wars (OS 25" map 3rd ed.) there was an icehouse depicted and named at the very spot where the brickwork was found.

This evening all the park entrances along Pollokshaws Road were taped off and guarded by policemen ( including the 5 a side entrance and the Shawlands X bogs).

The park was reopened this morning according to the BBC, I haven't been past it yet. It's just sad that it's not being reopened because they have caught her killer.

I can't ever remember a park being closed for two weeks for a murder investigation, it's not like there have never been murders in parks before. The cops seem to be pulling out the stops in this investigation. I do hope they catch whoever was responsible damn soon.

I hope they get their man. I don't take kindly to folk raping and murdering English girls as you may well imagine.

I was living in Queen's Park this time last year and It's a pity he didn't chance his luck with me first. He'd have let himself in for more than he'd bargained.

Hi Sydney . I am fairly sure Reenie was relating to herself as an English girl , as she is one , but hopefully nationality is irrelevant

Precisely. I did wonder whether I should have made that clear myself. As a forty year-old Englishwoman who has recently resided in Queen's Park, the incident hit home with more impact than it might otherwise have done. Still, it matters not who is the rapist's target... Rape, wherever perpetrated and to whomever is thoroughly repugnant. Gratuitous murder likewise.

It has been brought to our attention that part of the Queen’s Park recreation ground is the City Council’s preferred site for a large residential facility for elderly people. This decision has been made with out consulting the community or the community councils. It is our understanding that the local elected members were only made aware of this plan recently.
It is also our understanding that at least one community council have already objected in writing to the council regarding the proposal on the following grounds
